On Friday night i went to BBKING`s
for to see U.F.O that once was one of my favorite groups.
That was way back in `76, if i remember correctly,
when my sister brought me from London
their brand new album titled “Force it”.
I was totally blown away by the guitar sounds,
coming out of that album,the compositions,
and the overall sound was something totally fresh and new.
And the guitar player,on the driving wheel,
was a very young but extremely accomplished player,
with his long blond hair and his Gibson-Flying V
hanging down low, with chops to burn and with a German name
mr.Michael Schenker.
His use of the natural minor scale, otherwise known as the Aeolian mode,
and his very tasteful use of riffs and melody,
along with Phil Mogg`s powerful vocals and lyrics,
pushed U.F.O. up the charts and made “Force it”,
along with the two follow up albums “Lights Out”
and “Heavy Petting” golden and platinum.
Friday`s show was great!
They played many of the golden era songs along with newer material
that i am not familiar with,since i lost interest in them,
after Michael Schenker left the band
and took away with him the sound that defined them.
Vinnie Moore is playing guitar with them now,
and although a great player on his own right,
i am not so much into the neoclassical stuff that defines his signature sound.
